The "Light" of the World !

I am the Light of the World... the Light of Life.  {Yohannan (John) 8:12

Over the course of my studies, I have met with very intriguing passages within the Scriptures. One such passage was the one that our Savior himself spoke in Yohanan (John) 8:12 saying,"I am the Light of the World... the Light of Life".

After a considerable amount of time, one question kept coming up regarding his reference to Himself as being "the Light of the World" and "the Light of Life"!

The question: What did He mean by him being this "Light"?

We already know that throughout his life and ministry, everything he did and said, was in fulfillment of (and according to) the will of his Father who sent him.

Yohanan (John) 5:30 ..."I do not seek my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me."

So, in "Light" of these scriptures expressing the central purpose of our Saviors ministry. Let us look at His most exalted position as this "Light'.

May I suggest a prayer, asking in sincerity of heart, according to and as in the following;

Yohanan (John) 16:12-14 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth;"

2 Tim 3:16-17 "All scripture is breathed by 'Elohim, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of 'Elohim may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

James 1:5-8 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of 'Elohim, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing, for he who doubts is like the waves of the sea, tossed about by the winds. Let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from YaHuWaH;"

Heavenly Father, Blessed art thou YaHuWaH 'Elohim. Father, I ask and pray that thou give me the ability to show forth the understanding of thy Word, and the knowledge contained within your scripture, and that others will gain and grow by your Word. I thank you Father, in the name of thine only brought forth Son, our Master and Savior, YaHuWSHu'A the Messiah, Amein.

"Come now, let us reason together, Says YaHuWaH"... Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 1:18

~~~~~~~~~~~~
We will see through this study, that in His capacity as "The Light", YaHuWSHu'A, in His pre-incarnate relationship with His Father (who sent him into the world {Yohanan 1:14), is described in the TaNaK, not only as "the Light" of the world; but other representations of things Spiritual, that gives "light", such as wisdom, understanding and knowledge.
Psalm 119:105; makes reference:   "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light to my path."
"And the Word became flesh and pitched his tent among us,"... {Yohanan 1:14, this is an excellent representation of that "lamp-light", that became Our Savior, being born during the feast of Tabernacles [booths].
Yohanan 5:39-40; referes to these: "You search the scriptures, because in them you think you possess eternal life. And they are those that bear witness of me. Yet you desire not to come to me that you might possess life."
((Prime verse following**))
Prov 1:1-4 "The proverbs of Soloman, son of David, king of Yisra'el: to know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity; To give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of YaHuWaH is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Prov 2:1-7 "My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding. If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of YaHuWaH, and find the knowledge of 'Elohim. For YaHuWaH gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly."
I Know, I Know; there are many "Renowned Theologians" who have stressed the false idea that "Wisdom" is female/a woman. And therefore it would seem, that referring to wisdom as those 'theologians' do, would imply that if wisdom was to be made flesh, it would be in the form of a woman.
Wrong; wisdom (the word) did become flesh, and was born YaHuWSHu'A, the Messiah, Amein.
But for now, Let me talk like a fool as I give an example of words and their implications by their application.
My mom called our family's red station wagon, Rosie. Always referring to it as in "She is a real dependable car" or "Do me a favor and check her oil", etc.. Did that make mom's wagon a girl?
And why do sailors keep calling their boats as "She's a fine ship" and "All I need is a strong wind and a star to sail her by"!? Does that make their ships ,Women?
In fact many things are referred to (in the feminine) as her and she. Not to mention the utter stupidity of claiming that this planetary world we're on is "Mother Earth", and that she is run and controlled by "Mother Nature"!
So, in the same form, out of the mouth of 'Elohim comes wisdom and knowledge. This does not mean that every time YaHuWaH spoke, out popped a little female something or other, on every possible subject. But only that it holds a certain attribute or position within the Mind of haShaddai YaHuWaH!
Furthermore, our Savior YaHuWSHu'A, in his pre-incarnate position within the all encompassing Spirit of YaHuWaH 'Elohim, is described as having that mind (wisdom) of 'Elohim, and yet He possesses the visible aspect of a man!
Case in point: We can see this fact when, "In the beginning", the Father spoke to His Only Brought-forth Son, saying; "Let us make man in Our image"!
~~~~~~~

((Prime verse **)) Now, to comment on the aforementioned Scripture. I will give a brief commentary on each point.

** Proverb 8:1-3, "Doth not wisdom cry?, and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places... She crieth at the gates...

The opening in this chapter, expresses wisdom and understanding in the female term, (not the female form or gender).

And take note that immediately upon reading verse 4-11, you find that the actual speaker (the pre-incarnate YaHuWSHu'A), speaks in the first person, "I will speak... my mouth shall speak truth;"), having described the acts, attributes, and value of wisdom and understanding.

Then in verse 12, he continues by saying; "I wisdom dwell with prudence..."

This does not imply that He is in any way Female, as he goes on to state in verse 13, referring to his Father, saying,"The fear of YaHuWaH is to hate evil:"

Then in verse 22, he (Micha'el/YaHuWSHu'A*) states plainly, "YaHuWaH possessed me in the beginning of His way. Before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth was, before there were the depths, I was brought forth."

(* Micha'el was the pre-incarnate YaHuWSHu'A Messiah; "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.")

He continues his reference of submission to YaHuWaH especially in verse 30 where he states,"Then I was by him, as one brought up with him, a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;"

This firmly establishes that YaHuWSHu'A was the beginning of YaHuWaH's way, and that he was the "Master Workman", described in Yohanan (John) 1:3

"All things were made through him, and without him was anything made that was made."

~~~~~~~
Now, let us get back to the "Light of this World" and the "light of Life".
~~~~~~~

I desire to present specific Scriptures that centers on the Light that is expressed in relation to YaHuWSHu'A, the Only Brought-forth Son. As he is from the beginning, unto everlasting.

Starting in the book of Revelation, as we are looking forward to the Eternal Kingdom and Righteousness of Almighty 'Elohim YaHuWaH, we read:

Rev 21:23; "And the city had no need of the sun, neither the moon to shine in it: for the glory of 'Elohim did lighten [Greek 5461] it. And the Lamb is the Light [Greek 3088] thereof."

The Greek term used here for light, is Gr 3088 [ 8LP<@l ]: luchnos; meaning a lamp or candle. When in the previous, "lighten" the term used is Gr 5461 [ NTJ4lT ]: photizo; meaning: to shine forth, brighten up, enlighten or illuminate.

He is described elsewhere in the same form Gr 3087 [ 8LP<4" ] : Luchnia, meaning a candlestick, which is from its root Gr 3088: a candle.

We see here the glory of YaHuWaH, and the lamb being the Light of YaH's  glory. As in Yohanan 17:5,"And now, O Father, glorify me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with thee before the earth was."

This is a lot of info to connect, so pay close attention. I am in no way diminishing the full amount of the Glory that our Heavenly Father has bestowed upon His Son. On the contrary, I am allowing the Word of 'Elohim to show us, and magnify this Glory!

"Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."{Psalm 109:105

"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us."{Yohanan 1:14

We can see through all of this, that when YaHuWSH'A states that He is the Light, He is expressing how He is, and has been, involved in the lives of mankind. From the very beginning He has been shown.

But now, I would like to present the Greek script as it is found in the following verses. the Gr 5457 [ NTl ]; Phos: meaning to shine, to make manifest, Luminous in the widest sense. It is a root to the word Phosphoros Gr 5459NTFN@D@l ]; Light Bearing, Morning Star, Day Star. And we know that Our Savior is referred to as such, in other places in the scriptures.

Read these scriptures for a deeper understanding of this "Light".

Yohanan (John) 1:4-9 has many points in it showing the Word (YaHuWSHu'A) as the "Light" from the beginning.

YaHuWSHu'A himself said, "I am the Light of the world".{Yohanan 8:12

"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me shall not abide in darkness."{Yohanan 12:46 [this ties in strongly with Rev. 21:23

But there is much, much more.

For instance, when He was transfigured, He was described as shining as bright as the sun with clothes as white as the light. How's that for Glory?

Through the inspiration of the Spirit, Simeon, calls YaHuWSHu'A a light unto the gentiles and the Glory of Yisra'el. {Luke 2:32

How about when He appeared to Sha'ul on the way to Damascus. He was bright enough to cause Sha'ul's blindness. {Acts 9:3 [also see below Acts 22:6-11

When we look at the passages in Acts, we will find that the only term used in this reference is Gr 5457 [ NTl ]; Phos: to shine, make manifest, Luminous in the widest sense.

This shows explicitly, that the Brilliance of the Shekinah Glory that Our Heavenly Father originally bestowed upon YaHuWSHu'A, was expressed at the transfiguration {Matt 17:2). Then the messiah prayed for the total restoration of that Esteem at Yohanan 17:5; and then again unto Sha'ul on the road to Damascus.

Let's read.

Acts 9:3, "And it came to be, as he journeyed, that he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven."

And Sha'ul's own personal recollection found at Acts 22:6-11

Acts 22:6,"And it came to be that as I was journeying, on the way to Damascus, about noon, that suddenly there shown round about me, a great light from heaven."

:7,"And I fell to the ground and heard a voice, saying unto me, 'Sha'ul, Sha'ul, why are you persecuting Me?'"

:8,"And I answered, who are you Master? And He said to me, 'I am YaHuWSHu'A of Natsareth whom you persecute'".

:9,"And those who were with me indeed saw the light, and were afraid, but did not hear His voice speaking to me."

:10,"And I said, 'What shall I do Master?' And the Master said to me, 'Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that which you have been appointed to do.'"

:11,'And as I was not able to see because of the Glory of that light, I was led by the hand to Damascus."

Immediately we are informed that the "light" was of such intensity that it blocked out the sun in brightness, at noonday!

Then we read that the brilliance of that "light" caused fear to come upon those who were with Sha'ul.

Furthermore, from the "Light" was the voice of Our Savior YaHuWSHu'A, speaking audibly to Sha'ul, and yet those with Sha'ul were not able to hear!

Final Note: Even though Sha'ul was blinded by the brilliance of YaHuWSHu'A appearing, Our Savior gave to Sha'ul the gift of seeing the finer points of the Fathers Kingdom. And how all the things in the Scriptures proclaim the Eternal Majesty of haShaddai 'El YaHuWaH, and the esteem of His Only Brought-forth Son, YaHuWSHu'A !

~~~~~~~
We now need to see, how Our Heavenly Father brought forth this "light" that is described as the Embodiment of His Son, Our Savior, YaHuWSHu'A.
In 2 Cor 4:6, Sha'ul stated,"For 'Elohim, who commanded the Light to shine out of darkness*, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of 'Elohim in the face of YaHuWSHu'A the Messiah." ((*this will be connected at the end of this study))
Eph 5:8,"And the Light of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth."
Eph 5:13,"But all things that are reproved are made manifest in the Light: for whatever does make manifest, is light."
Our Master and Savior, YaHuWSHu'A the Messiah, is the manifestation and fulfillment of all these and more, as contained and expressed within the entire Book of the Old and New Covenant Scriptures.
~~~~~~~

So now let us get into some very key Old Covenant Scriptures.

First, let us look at the Hebrew term that is used in the following scripture references in YaH's word.

The Hebrew term, #216 9&, 'owr, meaning: illumination, luminary (in every sense of the word), bright and morning star. Including from its root term to give light, to shine forth, glorious. ...

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 60:1-2,"Arise, shine, for your light has come! And the esteem of YaHuWaH has risen upon you. For look, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness the peoples. But YaHuWaH arises over you, and His esteem is seen upon you... v:19-20,"No longer is the sun your light by day, nor does the moon give light to you for brightness, but YaHuWaH shall be to you an everlasting light, and your 'Elohim your comeliness. No longer does your sun go down, nor your moon withdraw itself, for YaHuWaH shall be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended."

In Yeshayahu is the prophetic scriptures to what was also repeated to Yohanan, by YaHuWSHu'A in the Revelation at 21:23; but let's go back further in the word of YaHuWaH 'Elohim, as we realize the significance of Our Savior YaHuWSHu'A throughout them.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 2:5."O house of Ya'aqob, come and let us walk in the light of YaHuWaH."

Tehillim (the Psalms) 112:4,"Light has risen in the darkness for the straight ones,"

Teh 104:2,"Covering yourself with light as with a garment,"

Teh 89:15,"Blessed are the people who know the Trumpet-call! They walk, O YaHuWaH, in the light of Your face."

Teh 43:3,"Send forth Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your Set-apart mountain and to Your dwelling places." {We know for a fact that YaHuWaH sent forth His Light and His Truth, in the personage of His Son, YaHuWSHu'A.

[As I read these, I am regularly reminded of the fulfillment scriptures within the New Covenant.]

Teh 27:1,"YaHuWaH is my light and my deliverence."

'Yob (Job) 33:28,"He has redeemed my being from going down to the pit, and my life sees the light."

NehemiYah 9:12,"And You led them by day with a cloudy column, and by night with a column of fire, to give them light in the way they were to go."^^

Shemoth (Exodus) 35:14,"And the Lampstand for the Light, and its utensils, and its lamps, and the oil for the light." (The Menorah {this has its companion scriptures, Ex 35:31-32; Ex 40:24-25; Rev 1:10-15 and Rev 21:22-23. And may I add, that the reference to the oil being for the light. The oil is the Spirit of YaH.)

^^Here is what NehemiYaH recalled to Yisra'el. From Shemoth (Exodus) 13:21,"And YaHuWaH went before them by day in a column of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a column of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night."

We see throughout the scriptures, and many that were utilized herein, that Our Savior YaHuWSHu'A is constantly referred to as being, the light from the foundation of the world. And it is this very premise that is accepted by Theologians around the Globe.

So my brothers and sisters in Messiah, we have this full assurance that we will see Our Savior in all of His Esteem (Glory). Who He was, Who He is, and Who He shall ever be.

Now, we know that Our Heavenly Father, YaHuWaH haShaddai 'El, never changes. We need to remember that He is the One True 'Elohim!

Yet Our Savior YaHuWSHu'A, the Only Brought-forth Son of the Everlasting Father, was Spirit prior to His incarnation and Birth. Became flesh. And that after His Life and Death, was raised again by YaHuWaH, and given back the Esteem that He had with the Father, Before the World was.

We have come full circle from Our Saviors statements at Yohanan 8:12,"I am the Light of the world", and his prayer at Yohanan 17:5,"the esteem that I had... 'before the world was."

So, my disciple/students; What scripture states unequivocally, the pre-incarnate existence, the very first scripture that states plainly the moment that "The Light","The Word", was spoken?

By remembrance; Yohanan 5:39,"And [the scriptures] are they that bear witness of Me."

"Before the World Was"!

So Bereshith (Genesis) 1:2 states that the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was across the face of the deep.

The terms - without form, and void, denotes that the world had no substance.

( I need to be careful here, regarding the "darkness across the face of the deep.") [see below ++]

And now we come to the moment that YaHuWaH spoke "The Word" the very first time.

"In the beginning was the Word"... and "the Word became flesh", and the Word was "The Light of the World", the Beginning of the Creation of 'Elohim". {Yohanan (John) 1:1; 1:14; 8:12; Rev 3:14]

So, considering those four scripture references;

Let us read Bereshith (Genesis) 1:3; "And 'Elohim said,'Let there be Light'!"

The Very First Day; a day before the Heavens were made, two days before the earth was made, and three days before the sun, moon and stars were created.

Very interesting fact; as we know that after that very first day, everything was created through The Only Brought-forth Son, the Master Workman; "The Word", "The Light". {Yohanan 1:3-14

~~~~~~~~~~~~
++ Note:
"Darkness across the face of the Deep"
A reminder of the verse at 2 Cor 4:6 ; " 'Elohim, who commanded the Light to shine out of darkness." Combined here with Gen 1:2... "face of the deep" ; As the "deep", is from the Hebrew .&%; Tehowm : an Abyss, a deep place.
May I suggest then, the Dark ever-expansive and Deep Recesses of the Heavens! And the "waters" are figuratively used as the "Firmament" of the same! (Bereshith (Gen) 1:6-8)
Final Comment: I must emphasize to you, the Disciple/Student of the Word of 'Elohim, that we, "The Chosen and Elect", will see Him in all His Splendor and Majesty. As I truly believe that the full and complete vision of His Glory, is far greater than these words can ultimately express!
For we shall see YaHuWSHu'A in all of His Set-apart Spiritual Glory, that was given Him for the Esteem of YaHuWaH haShaddai 'El !
       Halle-lu-YaH !
1 Yohanan (John) 3:2, "Beloved, we are the Children of 'Elohim, and it has not been made clear what we shall become. We do know that when He appears... we shall see Him as He really is."
Philippians 3:20-21, "We are citizens of Heaven, from where we also look for our Deliverer, YaHuWSHu'A the Messiah. Who shall change our vile bodies, and fashion it like unto His Glorious body. According to the power, allowing Him to bring everything unto Himself."
